Practice-oriented university studies in the university city of Zwickau

As a university of applied sciences, the Westsächsische Hochschule Zwickau - University of Applied Sciences (WHZ) offers a wide range of study opportunities in the fields of technology, economics, health, languages and art.

The WHZ is regionally anchored and at the same time internationally positioned and maintains numerous relationships with foreign universities. About 13 % of the WHZ's current 4,500 students come to western Saxony from all over the world.

One focus of the "University of Mobility" is automotive engineering, which builds on the tradition of automotive engineering in western Saxony, but above focuses on innovative and future-oriented education and research. For example, Zwickau is the only university of applied sciences in Germany that has a state-of-the-art EMC absorber hall.

But not only the topic of motor vehicles is high on the agenda of the WHZ profiles. Whether biomedical engineering, digital health, health management, management of public tasks, information and communication technology, sign language interpreting, fashion design or textile structures and technologies, the innovative trends of electromobility, digitisation, internationalisation or health are reflected in practically all of the 50 or so degree programmes.

Well-equipped lecture halls, seminar rooms, libraries, laboratories, studios and computer pools with modern information and communication technology offer the best conditions for a modern, scientifically sound and at the same time practical university education.

Another focus of the Zwickau educational institution is research. The Westsächsische Hochschule Zwickau - University of Applied Sciences is one of the strongest research universities in Germany. The City of Zwickau and the Westsächsische Hochschule Zwickau - University of Applied Sciences work closely together with many partners in the region on the project "Zwickauer Energiewende Demonstrieren - ZED" (Demonstrating the Zwickau Energy Turnaround - ZED), which is funded by the Federal Government with €16 million.
